NASA astronauts at Honeymoon Petra Villas

Posted by Honeymoon Petra Villas on September 10, 2010 – 10:46 pm

In order to explore the similarities between the condition on Mars and Earth Nasa made a very interesting research at the island of Santorini.

Using local persons NASA put glass boxes at the Santorini’s volcanic sand trying to test if it is possible for micro cells to survive or maybe to multiply. The sand of the volcano is red and at the same time very similar to the one that we can find on Mars surface. So witht the same texture, the same weather conditions NASA tried to experiment on life.

The children of the owner John Renieris have participate at the experiment among others and at the end of the experiment certificates have been given to the research team.

Among others many famous astronauts have arrive in Santorini like Valery Poliakov.

Honeymoon Petra Villas was privileged to hold a reception for all attending as well as provide one of its villas to Dr Poliakov. Between 20th -26th May 2000 a symposium, a meeting of minds, was held in Santorini to study the behaviour of humans in space. Many well known scientists, journalists and astronauts were present. Amongst the attending was award winning Dr Valery V. Poliakov, who took part in the most prolonged in the history space flight ( January 8th 1994 to March 22nd 1995 ) on the MIR station

Other names include Patrick Moore, Joan Vernikos ( Director of the Life Sciences Division at NASA Headquarters, U.S.A. ) and female astronaut Chiaki Mukai
